engcon tiltrotator proves to be a winning investment

We recently caught up with new engcon customer Agri Management Solutions (AMS Ltd) who are water solution specialists based in Herefordshire but cover most of the country. They predominantly carry out works on agricultural sites where they supply water storage, pumping, treatment, distribution and drainage equipment.

ASM do a lot of work on fresh water treatment systems going into poultry sites, as well as domestic, commercial and indoor farming facilities. They also design, supply and install turnkey irrigation systems for a wide range of crops including soft fruit, apples, potatoes, asparagus, turf, shrubs and trees.

The company was started around 20 years ago and became a limited company in 2008. AMS has diversified into other areas, whilst remaining at the forefront of innovative water systems, such as hydroponics and vertical farming.

They recently invested in a new Takeuchi TB325R, Takeuchi’s new 2.5t short tail swing excavator along with an engcon EC204 with integrated gripper and our flagship DC2 control system. We spoke to AMS Ltd’s Managing Director, Ellis Whittal-Williams who had this to say.

“The new TB325R and engcon EC204 will be utilised across our diverse range of activities where we often find space is limited. Also we specified the EC204 with an integrated gripper to make handling of pipe and fittings easier and safer for our technicians.”

Ellis went on to say “Its early days but we are getting on well with the package with the primary operator Tom praising how extremely versatile the engcon unit is, especially the integrated gripper. The TB325R is very stable in its compact frame, with its reduced tail swing making it easy and safe to operate around water storage tanks and buildings. With the TB325R’s fixed undercarriage the machine feels very stable for its dimensions, even when operating over the tracks. We have been very happy with the excellent service from Bow Plant Sales as ever, with good communication throughout from Martin, Ollie and Kit (and their team).”

Ollie Hughes, the salesman from Bow Plant Sales who are the Takeuchi dealers covering the West Midlands, Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire and who several years ago become engcon dealers and who carry out their own in-house installation.

“AMS have been purchasing machines off us for the last 10 years and it’s great to see the progression from standard machines with the usual manual or hydraulic quick hitches onto the latest technology from both Takeuchi and engcon allowing them to be ahead of the game for any future contracts. The whole process from quoting to supplying the finished machine was a pleasure, and we look forward to supplying many more.”

Out on site we also got a chance to speak to Tom Dutson, who is the main operator of the new TB325R. Tom digging was a digging out a trench as part of an installation of a water storage system on a poultry farm in Worcestershire. Tom admitted it had taking a little bit of getting used to, but found the tiltrotator a very handy tool on this particular site especially in certain sections where conditions were quite tight. One of the key benefits was the reduction in manual handling with Tom being able to position the pipes into place using the gripper.

Tom had this to says about the new machine and the tiltrotator. “The gripper does add a little bit of weight on a machine this size and you know it is there, but it is certainly worth it for the added flexibility.” engcon’s integrate (GR) and cassette (GRD) grippers reduce manual handling on sites and often means a reduction in manpower and in some cases additional plant saving a considerable amount on each job.

engcon’s EC02B and EC204 tiltrotators are perfectly suited for mini diggers and makes your excavator a more flexible and multipurpose tool carrier especially when coupled with engcon’s huge range or mechanical and hydraulic attachments.
