Stig goes for trade-in

A new industry, a new machine – and a new tiltrotator with a modern proportional control system.

Stig Lönnvik in Malax is very happy with his life.

“I don’t regret a thing!” laughs Stig.

Stig Lönnvik ran a petrol station for many years. It demanded a lot of effort, his free time was reduced to a minimum, and still his hourly pay was poor. He decided to switch to a different profession and became a machine contractor instead.

A successful move, reckons Stig now – particularly as he’s recently bought a new Hyundai R140 fitted with all the necessary buckets, engcon’s new EC219 tiltrotator and the stepless Microprop DC2 proportional control system.

“This new tiltrotator model and proportional control are brilliant, they make my work faster and more precise,” says Stig.

Many hours and no problems

Stig has operated engcon tiltrotators for more than 3 000 hours with no major need for maintenance or repairs. He can also compare operating a machine without a tiltrotator as he has a large backhoe which doesn’t have one.

“But I really don’t use it very much as fast results are normally expected. I hardly ever use it for anything other than forest work, fit posts or pick up gravel from the gravel pit,” continues Stig.

When we visit Stig Lönnvik, he’s working with a drain connection in Åminne, Malax, which is several hundred metres long. This drainage pipe is to be installed at a depth of two metres in the clayey, wet ground and requires large amounts of soil to be moved. Despite this, the machine’s fuel consumption stands at about eight litres an hour.

“This combination is perfect: a modern, fuel-efficient machine with a short tail and long range, a tiltrotator and an efficient control system. What else could I possible want?”
