How we got faster, safer and more efficient with Engcon

“The first time I saw a tiltrotator was in Earthmovers Magazine and I realized right away that I needed one to make my excavator even more efficient,” Craig Bell from BCE Civil Engineering tells us.

Soon after he’d read the article in Earthmovers, Craig saw a tiltrotator demonstrated live at an exhibition, and it wasn’t long before he made his mind up. When he placed an order for a new Volvo EW160E, Craig also ordered an Engcon EC219 tiltrotator, Q-Safe quick hitch, EC-Oil (automatic hydraulic connection) together with deep dig, grading and cable buckets, a ripper, ground compactor, grading beam and a hydraulic forklift frame.

“With these tools I’m banking on increasing my profitability and raising the quality of my work,” continues Craig when we meet him at a construction site where he’s taking care of all the groundwork and excavations for water and sewerage. Unfortunately, our visit took place a few days too early as the new Volvo was still at Volvo Construction Equipment in Immingham being fitted out for delivery. Craig gestures toward a part of the area and tells us how he is planning to use his new excavator and all its tools.

“I’m looking forward to using the tiltrotator and all the tools; they will help me work much more efficiently and increase my opportunities for taking on more jobs,” says Craig before we part. Our next stop will be Volvo Immingham to see for ourselves Craig’s fully equipped excavator. Facts: BCE Civil Engineering LTD is based in Lincoln, UK and was founded in 1996 by John Bell. His son Craig began working in the company in 2005. BCE has two Volvo EC140 tracked excavators and the latest wheeled excavator, an EW160E. Its principal areas of application are landscaping, ground works, water/sewerage, and roadworks.

"We’re extremely pleased with the package we purchased from Engcon"
