The first thing we see when we visit Graeme McKay Earthworks on the outskirts of Ararat, Victoria is a brand new Yanmar with a new EC10 tiltrotator.
This is no coincidence, says local manager John Jordan.
“I think it’s the twelfth tiltrotator we’ve bought. They’re really useful in our line of work, and they never break down.”
Graeme McKay started his company 15 years ago. The company specialises in railway jobs but performs other contracts as well. Is has a fleet of about 70 machines including excavators, dumpers, trucks and road graders.
“We currently have six road graders and two dumpers,” says Graeme as he shows us around.
The company mostly works in Victoria, but also performs contracts in New South Wales. The business is thriving, as testified to by the company’s 45 employees and well-maintained machine fleet.
According to Graeme, engcon tiltrotators are one of the reasons for the company’s success.
“We’ve been using tiltrotators for seven years. They make our excavators more flexible and they’re great, for example, when working on slopes since you can attack the surface from the right angle.”
